“God has made everything suitable for its time; moreover, God has put a sense of past and future into their minds,
yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.” — Ecclesiastes 3: 11
“So teach us to count our days that we may gain a wise heart.”— Psalm 90:12
This Sunday is January 1, 2023, and we celebrate our entry into another new year. Time is an interesting and complex concept, and everyone experiences it in different ways. The ancient Greeks had two different words for the concept of time — chronos and kairos. Chronos is sequential, and it measures the passage of time with calendars, clocks, dings on our cell phones. Kairos is a different kind of time. It reflects the quality of our time, the fullness of experience, and meaning. It is God’s time. This Sunday we will explore how we can live more deeply with kairos time.
