ASH resumes on January 15 with Bible Study using a book by the Rev. Dr. Renita J. Weems, Just a Sister Away: A Womanist Vision of Women’s Relationships in the Bible. Our class studied Womanist thought last year so we are eager to see how this pastor and noted Bible scholar applies it to women in the Bible. Don’t worry if you missed that discussion; we’ll fill you in. We have enough copies of her book for the class, so just come at 9:00 each Sunday in the Boulevard Room.
Rev. Dr. Renita J. Weems – Writer. Clergy. Independent Scholar. Maker. Memorist. Educator. The first African American woman to earn a doctorate in Old Testament studies; Rev. Dr. Weems has taught at Vanderbilt Divinity School and Spelman College. She is one of the founding Pastors and Chief Servants at the Ray of Hope Community Church located in Nashville, TN.
