In the 1930s, the phrase “The American Way of Life” became a popular trope extolling such ideals as liberty, equality, and opportunity. It promoted the “American Dream” of materialism, innovation, and unbridled wealth. This Sunday, as we celebrate Native American Heritage Sunday, we will explore a different “American Way of Life.” In this perspective, values such as kinship, respect, humility, and a spiritual connection to nature are what really matter.
