Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God
and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life,
bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. – Revelation 22: 1-3
Water is clear, tasteless, and odorless. It is the main constituent of Earth’s streams, lakes, and oceans, and the fluids of most living organisms. It is vital for all known forms of life, even though it provides no calories or organic nutrients. There is no life anywhere without water. Water is life. Every religion has given water some sort of sacred significance. It represents purification, renewal, birth, salvation, and even the very life force of God. This Sunday, we will have a special service focusing on the renewing and life giving symbolism of God. People are invited to bring a vial of water and participate in a special ritual honoring the water of life.
