Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.— Ephesians 5:14

This Sunday is the Second Sunday in Advent. During the season of Advent, we wait, once again, looking for the light to shine on the horizon. We wait to see if God is really going to make anything different. We yearn and our hearts ache for a God who will intervene and stop the madness, the hate, the violence. As much as we wait, however, the truth is that God has already arrived. In fact, God keeps arriving again and again and again, but we are asleep and miss God’s arrival. This Sunday, we will explore how Advent is also a season of awakening to the presence of God, a God that has already arrived.
