Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
— 2 Corinthians 3:17

What does it mean to be free? In the United States, it is a mantra and sacred ideal extolled and sought out since before the founding of this country. On the July 4th holiday weekend, in the name of freedom, flags are waved, the national anthem is sung, fireworks light up the sky, Air Force jets maneuver in breathtaking formations – all in the celebration of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But what is it to truly be free? Jesus said, “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” This Sunday, we will explore the true freedom to be found in our relationship with Jesus.
