The Pharisees then said to one another,
“You see, you can do nothing.
Look, the world has gone after him!’”— John 12:19
This Sunday, we observe Palm Sunday. We remember that as Jesus arrived in Jerusalem, he was greeted as a hero, a celebrity, a man who might even end Roman oppression. He was extraordinary by any measure. Jesus, however, came into the world not to be admired or worshipped but to have people truly follow his way of love, inclusion, and liberation. The question to be addressed this Sunday is, “Are you an admirer or a follower?”*
