“Salt is good; but if salt has lost its saltiness, how can you season it?
Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” Mark 9:50

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus regularly uses metaphors and symbolic language to describe himself, the kingdom of God, and human beings. In the beatitudes, Jesus says, “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything but is thrown out and trampled underfoot.” Salt is an essential mineral and serves many purposes but what does it mean in the context of faith? This Sunday we will explore the symbolism of salt.
