At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
He called a child, whom he put among them, and said, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and
become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” — Matthew 18: 1-3

One of the surprising and important teachings of Jesus is that we are called to become like children. In fact it is a mandate. He says that, if we don’t become like a child, we will never enter the kingdom of heaven. How are we to understand this teaching? How do we, who are so often tired, cynical, and self-reliant, become like children? This Sunday, we explore the qualities of a child and how we, too, may become more like children.
